Welcome to NRG Gladstone Power Station. The Gladstone Power Station is a world-class facility providing customers with safe, reliable, low-cost electricity. Gladstone Power Station was built by the Queensland Government and first commenced operation in 1976. The station has been a significant part of the Gladstone community and an important energy provider for Queensland since that time. After 40 plus years of operation, we are still Queensland’s largest single power station and remain an important generating facility in the National Electricity Market. We take our role in the community, in which we all live and work, as an important part of how we seek to operate this Station. Since 1994, the station has been operated by NRG Gladstone Operating Services on behalf of Joint Venture participants Rio Tinto Ltd (42.125%), Sunshine State Power, a wholly- owned subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. (37.5%), SLMA GPS Pty Ltd (8.50%), Ryowa II GPS Pty Ltd (7.125%) and YKK GPS (Queensland) Pty Ltd (4.75%). Headquartered in Houston, TX, NRG Energy Inc., the parent company of NRG Gladstone Operating Services and Sunshine State Power, is a leading integrated energy and home services company founded in 1989. NRG Energy, Inc. brings the power of energy to customers by producing and selling energy and related products and services, predominately in the U.S. and Canada. However, our success is important not just for those who work within the electricity industry, but for all of us.
